Hello Happy Campers!

Spring has sprung and so have a lot of flowers! CMTC is all green and lovely again! Winter and spring were busy times for Wayne and I as we worked on the campground and even had the joy of seeing a few of you over the colder months.

We repainted the bathrooms and installed new shelves to make getting ready a lot easier! We re-stained all the Rockers and the Swing in the Pavilion and they really needed it! We are STILL waiting to hear from the county about the regulations regarding the installation of RV sites.  We have been working on this project for 7 months and still have yet to break ground. If you desire to bring a Toy Hauler or RV to CMTC we have some adaptor plugs and can run a hose for you, but for the time being we are unable to provide lovely leveled and easy hook-ups for power and water.  We also added some new trees for some desperately needed shade! On your next visit walk around and see the Apple/Pear/Plum/Fig and Spruce trees added to the property.  In the next few years those visiting at the right time will be able to pluck a snack from a tree!

The biggest new addition to CMTC won’t be very apparent for sometime but Wayne built the Chicken coop of my dreams and we adopted 12 little Americana chicks. These little ladies are known as Easter Egg Hens, they lay tinted eggs- green/lavender/blue and are very sweet tempered.  Once they get laying we will have fresh eggs available for you to purchase in the camp store (Wayne says that I need to tell you that we will have NO roosters in the coop so everyone can sleep in- Bikers named Rooster are still welcome )

Speaking of the camp store! Wayne and I attended a tradeshow over the winter and managed to hook up with some awesome vendors! We now carry plus sized ladies MC jackets, CMTC T-Shirts, Backpackers Pantry Dehydrated Foods and a variety of other needed items including some really awesome maps of the area for our Dual Sport Riders and more locally produced goods!

We were over joyed at the number of you who stopped by for a cup of coffee or even stayed a night over the winter and early spring. Most notably I have to tell you about some neat people we met-  Jans and Kati from Germany are literally riding around the world. They have spent 2.5 years on the road touring Australia and the America’s. We were thrilled when they decided to drop by for a much needed 3 day rest before heading up the East coast and into Canada. They were here for the Boston Bombing and shared a wonderful message with us concerning their experiences: They have visited some of the scariest countries in South America and elsewhere and they always seemed to run into kind, caring and generous people.  They really could only come up with 2 times that they were “worried” and those times just worked themselves out. 2 times in 2.5 years.  If you would like to follow Jans and Kati please check out their website at www.boomer.de we wish them very safe and happy travels!

Well it’s back into the garden for me, I am hopeful that at some point I will be able to offer you some fresh grown veggies and berries during your next stay!

BMW Riders look for Wayne at the BMW Georgia Mountain Rally in Hiawassee GA this weekend. Enter to win a free 2 night stay in one of our cabins or just drop in and tease him about not taking his bike to the Rally.

Cheers!

Due to the heavy rains we received last week the Cherohala Skyway will be closed indefinitely due to a roadway collapse on the North Carolina side on Jan 17, 2013. Part of the westbound  pavment collasped 1,000 feet into a ravine in Graham County, NC about a mile from the TN state line. Please plan your travel accordingly. They plan for it to be closed for at least 2 months, with the potential for longer.

However, the rains brought an awesome sight to Tellico Plains, Bald River Falls was flowing like they had not seen in 20 years, the Tellico River was high, with amazingly loud rapids that reminded us both of the Niagra river above the Niagra falls. The campground got a bit soggy, but we stayed high and dry for the most part.

Tellico Plains and CMTC is open! The roads in TN are clean and in excellent condition. The weather is cold- but the days are being sunny. Cherck out our local weather at www.noaa.gov zip code 37385

December is here and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The campground is all decorated for the holidays and we want to thank everyone who has stopped by to visit and our recent campers for making the holiday season fun! A new addition this year is our Biker Santa- His bike is chopped and he is riding in a sleeveless shirt which exposes his barbed wire snowflake tattoo and fringed riding gloves. Jeans and riding boots complete his outfit. Local children have been very happy to see him!

The weather has been simply lovely here, perfect for a ride! Check the local forecast at www.noaa.gov zip code 37385 before you ride!

We added a few tree’s to the campground this month and have been working to get it ready for a short winters nap. We are open year round but plan to take a short trip. Please call ahead to make sure that we are here before you come to stay- most likely we will be! Come rent a heated cabin when you get cabin fever!

Wayne and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. We hope to see you all real soon!

Greetings!

Summer is winding down here at CMTC and the trees are starting to change color. The temps are dropping at night and the days are simply beautiful here!

We are still working on upgrades here at CTMC. We have added new dressers to all but one cabin now, and the HVAC guys came out and the Registration Building and Showers are now heated and we replaced the doors on all the showers- no more getting stuck in the bathroom or trouble getting them open! What this means to you, is that we will be open year round! Last winter there were only 2 days when you could not ride- most days the riding was exceptional! Hikers and mountain bikers will enjoy the cooler temps and open- bug free- trails! We are accepting reservations for the winter. Consider the mountains, a warm cozy cabin and a camp fire to combat your winter cabin-fever!

We also enclosed the balcony area of the Registration Building with a spiffy new wall decorated with Victory motorcycle parts. It looks just great and we want to thank (Long time rider) Mike Pritchford for doing such an awesome job! In process now is a new walkway from the cabins to the bathrooms, this will make your walk uphill much more comfortable and will assist with limiting the grass attached to your boots.

Live up north and want to hit Daytona in the spring? Need to trailer your ride out of the snow and ice but want to ride into Daytona? We are now accepting reservations to park your Truck and Trailer in our Parking lot. We are on site 24/7 so your vehicle will be protected and you can ride from Tellico Plains to Daytona for the sun and fun.

Looking for a fun place to have your wedding? Consider CMTC! Our lovely pavilion would be a great place to say “I Do” and we can help you find all the other items that make a wedding special! Your guests will be comfortable in our Cabins or camping on our lovely flat grassy sites. The registration building can serve as a wonderful place to gather and the pictures will be exceptional! We refuse to charge extra fees for weddings! CMTC is a beautiful and economical place for your special day!

Is your family all about playing in the great outdoors? Consider us for your Family Reunion! With 2 grills onsite, the Pavilion, the Patio, and the Registration building there is plenty of room to spread out! We have a wonderful large fire ring for S’mores, songs and stories in the evening and plenty of room for volleyball nets and other yard games. The area is loaded with fun activities for your family to explore and with the combination of cabins and tent sites people of all ages will enjoy their camping experience. The dogs of the family are welcome also!

We have had such wonderful feedback from our Campers this year and heard of and been a part of so many grand adventures! Riders report that they have yet to find a bad road to ride in this area and Dual Sporters have been searching for the legendary hermit cave on the side of Starr Mountain. We are right on the beginning of the Trans- America Trail. Many people have Slayed the Dragon and Ridden the Gauntlet, the Devils Triangle, The Moonshiner and a great ride we call the Ducktail Loop.  The Skyway is always a beautiful ride and the Blue Ridge Parkway has been frequently visited. We wish to thank each and every person for coming and staying with us.

We still have cabins and tent sites available for fall camping on the weekends! Why not take another ride out and see the mountains during the color tour!

We have more upgrades coming in the future to increase your comfort during your stay, and as always we appreciate the feedback of our guests!

Happenings at CMTC- August edition

July was a busy month here at CMTC, we enjoyed meeting the Archangel MC from Maryland, A.I.M. from Michigan, Wingnut and Crew on the Rooster Birthday run and several single riders who popped by to check us out.

The new mattresses are here and have been installed, we hear from folks that they are very comfortable. The Boot and Glove dryers have been seeing some use with the beautiful thunderstorms that have rolled through… Those same beautiful Thunderstorms also caused some damage here at CMTC. A lightning strike behind our cabin took out the Cell Signal Booster, The Golf Cart and one of the computer’s here in the Registration building. What this means to you- the campers, is that you will have to find a bit of a signal in the drive way. We are working to get this fixed ASAP.

New additions to the cabins in August will be 3 drawer dressers. You will now have a spot to put your keys/change etc. next to the bed and drawers to stash your clothes etc. Wayne is working like a madman to get these all assembled and into the cabins. We are adding new bed linens and blankets as well as new pillows. Each bed now has 2 pillows to add to your comfort. We also added a new gas grill in the pavilion and added folding chairs to the bathroom/showers. This will give you a place to put your shower items down and sit to get dressed. We are working on a more permanent solution to this issue.

We now have swag! Hoorags and Kickstand pads with our logo are now available. “What’s a Hoorag?” If you have ever watched the TV reality show “Survivor” they give the contestants “Buff’s” to wear. These versatile tubes of stretchy fabric are the most awesome Bandanna ever created. You can wear them over 32 different ways- they make awesome under helmet rags and can even be worn for sun protection or the Ladies can wear them as tube tops or miniskirts. Wayne loves to wear his on his neck for sun/wind protection while riding.

Ride safe my friends!

Thank you for visiting our new website.

As of 6/5/12 Cherohala Motorcycle Resort is now Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground. We are open and onsite 24/7 to serve your needs. Our new sign was installed this week and we are working on the sign lighting situation so you can find us in the dark.

Wayne and I are excited to open the campground up 24/7 for single campers again. Groups, clubs and rallies as always are welcomed, please contact us for group registrations. Single Campers can now make a reservation here on the web, and we also now accept Visa and Mastercard. We are dog friendly for our 4 legged furry friends who are well behaved and cleaned up after.

We have started making upgrades to make your camping experience more comfortable. We now have Boot and Glove Dryers in each cabin as well as 2 in the registration building for our Tent campers. We have added a cell signal booster and have already received positive feedback (One camper experienced 4 bars at the stream, and another received a call in cabin #4 that did not drop)New mattresses arrive this month and plans are in the works to add a coin-op laundry facility as well as an additional bathhouse near the cabins. All beds now have 2 pillows to add to your comfort. Soon we hope to be able to offer our campers an in-camp breakfast and dinner buffet and box lunches for the trail.

Big plans are in the works for the future of CMTC, We hope you come and experience the thrill of the trails, the Skyway and the Winding roads of eastern Tennessee.
